A new year brings new releases! Here are the books I’ll be camping out in front of my local bookstore to snag the second they come out this year. (In no particular order—it’s a shared, general excitement.)
1. City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare—May 27th
Finally, the 6th and final book in the Mortal Instruments book will be released. I’m extremely excited to see how this series wraps up, especially since I was so impressed with Clare’s final book in her Infernal Devices trilogy.
2. The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin—June 10th
This is the third and final book in the Mara Dyer trilogy. I’ve been dying to read this book since I finished book two in June. I love this series and these characters, and am equally excited and terrified to see how this creepy/romantic story wraps up.
3. Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi—Jan. 28th
This is the third and final book in the Under the Never Sky trilogy. I’m extremely excited for this, and plan on purchasing it the second it comes out and reading it in a single sitting.
4. The One by Kiera Cass—May 6th
This is the third and final book in the Selection trilogy. Looking forward to see how this story wraps up! I’m really hoping we get some more world building in this book.
5. Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi—Feb 4th
This is the third and final book in the Shatter Me trilogy (lots of series coming to an end this year). I’m way too invested in this love triangle and need to know who Juliette ends up with. And that cover? Gorgeous. I need that on my shelf 😉
6. Cress by Marissa Meyer—Feb 4th
This is the third book in the Lunar Chronicles (Preceded by Cinder and Scarlet, with the final book Winter coming out in 2015). I love this unique series based off fairytale retellings. The way the stories converge is interesting and entertaining, and I can’t wait to meet some new characters and be reunited with my old favorites.
7. Between the Spark and the Burn by April Genevieve Tucholke—August 14th
This is the sequel to Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea—and this is going to be the only sequel as far as I know. I’m really curious to see how this story ends.
8. The Unbound by Victoria Schwab—Jan 28th
This is the sequel to The Archived, which I loved. One of the most unique books I read in 2013. I loved everything about the first book, and can’t wait for the next one!
9. Panic by Lauren Oliver/ Rooms by Lauren Oliver—March 4th/unknown 2014
I’ve been a huge fan of Lauren Oliver since her debut Before I Fall, and am excited to see another stand-alone from her (Panic). I adored her Delirium trilogy, and am really interested to see her attempt at an adult novel (Rooms).
10. Rebel by Amy Tintera—May 13th
The sequel to Reboot. I really enjoyed the first book, and am excited for more of these characters and to see how this story pans out.
11. Untitled (The Darkest Minds) by Alexandra Bracken—unknown 2014
Third and Final book in the Darkest Minds trilogy. Bracken is one of my favorite authors, and this is one of my favorite trilogies. Ever. I’m beyond excited for the final book.
12. Split Second by Kasie West—Feb. 11th
The sequel to Pivot Point, which I just finished yesterday, and I’m already dying for the next book. I love West’s writing style and after that ending, I need this book.
13. The Iron Trial (Magisterium) by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black—October 2nd
The first book in another Cassandra Clare series (and Holly Black, who I also love). Need I say more?
14. Alienated by Melissa Landers—Feb 4th
I’ve never read anything by Melissa Landers before, but this concept sounds really fun and interesting, so I’m excited to start a new series this year!
There you have it. My 14 most anticipated books of 2014. There are plenty of other books that didn’t make the list (The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey, Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick, Frozen by Erin Bowman, ect.) but if I listed all the books I’m looking forward to this coming year, we’d be here awhile.
Be sure to let me know what your most anticipated books of 2014 are! Do you agree with any on my list, have more of your own to add? Let me know in the comments, and have a very happy New Year!
